Lisa Snyder, a Pennsylvania woman, has been sentenced to two life terms without parole for the murder of her two young children, 4-year-old Brinley and 8-year-old Conner, who were found hanging in the basement of their home five years ago in Albany Township. Snyder showed no reaction during her sentencing and declined to address the court. The judge called the crime the most violent murder she had seen and noted that Snyder displayed no remorse.
The older brother of the slain children, Owen Snyder, called his mother a “monster” and no longer considers her his mother. He expressed regret that his siblings will never get to meet his newborn son. Lisa Snyder had claimed that her son was bullied and had threatened to take his own life, but there was no evidence to support her claim.
Police found evidence of online searches related to suicide, death by hanging, and how to kill someone, as well as watching episodes of a crime documentary series. A coroner ruled the children’s deaths as homicides by hanging. The defense unsuccessfully tried to get an acquittal based on speculation and “guesswork.”
Overall, Lisa Snyder has been convicted of two counts of first-degree murder, along with child endangerment and evidence-tampering convictions. Despite her pleas and attempts to plead no contest due to mental illness, she was ultimately sentenced to two life terms without parole.
