Mississippi’s Dart concludes college career with 4 TD passes and a dominant 52-20 victory over Duke in Gator Bowl

Jaxson Dart of Mississippi had a memorable final college game, throwing for 404 yards and four touchdowns to lead the Rebels to a 52-20 victory over Duke in the Gator Bowl. Despite being chewed out by coach Lane Kiffin for a late pass play, Dart left his mark on the game. The win marked double-digit wins for Mississippi in consecutive years for the first time since 1959-60. Seniors Ulysses Bentley IV and Isaiah Hamilton also had standout performances, with Bentley rushing for two touchdowns and Hamilton scoring on a 50-yard interception return. Duke struggled without key players, and quarterback Henry Belin IV was sacked three times and intercepted once. The game was never close as Mississippi was a heavy favorite. Despite the lopsided victory, Duke coach Manny Diaz praised Dart as a “special quarterback.” Looking ahead, Duke is set to welcome former Tulane QB Darian Mensah with a reported $8 million NIL deal, while Mississippi will turn to redshirt freshman Austin Simmons to lead their team. The game was played in less than ideal conditions at EverBank Stadium, with the field showing signs of wear and tear from previous events. Despite some injury setbacks, both teams are now looking towards the future as they move on from the Gator Bowl.
