Mizzou Football Faces Challenges Ahead of Matchup with Mississippi State
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ) – Mizzou Football will be missing veteran wide receiver Mookie Cooper for a fourth consecutive game when they take on Mississippi State this Saturday. The team has officially designated Cooper as ‘out’ for this critical SEC road trip, according to their latest injury report.
The availability report also lists quarterback Brady Cook and safety Tre’Vez Johnson as ‘probable’ for the matchup in Starkville, Mississippi. Cook’s upgrade to ‘probable’ is particularly noteworthy, especially after he was previously listed as ‘doubtful’ ahead of last week’s game against South Carolina. Despite ongoing recovery from wrist and ankle injuries, the St. Louis native threw for 237 yards and one touchdown during his return to the starting lineup against the Gamecocks.
The Missouri Tigers will be eager to bounce back from recent struggles, and having Cook possibly suited up could make a significant difference. Alongside Cooper, defensive contributors Connor Tollison, Khalil Jacobs, Joe Moore, Darris Smith, and quarterback Sam Horn will also be unavailable for the game.
On the opposing side, Mississippi State has its own injury woes, with key players including quarterback Blake Shapen and several wide receivers ruled out for the contest.
Both teams’ injury reports will be updated as the game day approaches, with the Southeastern Conference set to release further details on Thursday and Friday.
Mizzou and Mississippi State are scheduled to clash at Davis Wade Stadium on Saturday, Nov. 23, with kickoff set for 3:15 p.m. The outcome of this matchup could be pivotal as both teams look to finish the season strong.
