Costco is recalling approximately 10,800 units of organic eggs over concerns they may be contaminated with salmonella. The affected eggs were sold under the Kirkland Signature brand at 25 Costco stores in five states, with a Julian code of 327 and a “use by” date of Jan. 6, 2025. The recall was initiated after Handsome Brook Farms discovered that eggs not meant for stores were mistakenly packaged and distributed in retail packaging. The company is implementing additional supply chain controls and retraining to prevent such errors in the future. There have been no reports of illness related to the recalled eggs. Consumers who have purchased the affected units are advised to return them to their local Costco store for a full refund or to dispose of the products. The recall is being carried out in collaboration with the FDA to ensure the safety of consumers.
