Pop icon Janet Jackson made controversial remarks during an interview with The Guardian, where she echoed disinformation about Vice President Kamala Harris not being Black. Jackson claimed she had heard that Harris is Indian and not Black, despite her mixed heritage of Indian and Black origins. These comments were made as Jackson promotes upcoming tour dates and a residency in Las Vegas. Harris’ campaign did not immediately respond to Jackson’s remarks, but in the past, former President Donald Trump also made derogatory comments about Harris’ heritage. Harris has responded to such criticisms, calling them divisive and disrespectful. Jackson also expressed pessimism about the upcoming presidential election and raised concerns about child sex trafficking during the interview. Despite her own struggles, including allegations of abuse from her father Joe Jackson, Jackson is aiming to strengthen her legacy which has been overshadowed by her brother Michael Jackson and controversies like the infamous Super Bowl nipple incident. Despite these challenges, Jackson has had a successful career with multiple No. 1 hits, Grammy Awards, and an Academy Award nomination.
