Local Journalist John Brummett: A Career Spanning Decades in Arkansas Media

John Brummett, a seasoned journalist with a remarkable career spanning several decades, began his journey in news while still in high school as a part-time reporter for the Arkansas Democrat. His dedication and talent led him to the Arkansas Gazette in 1977, where he developed his voice as a political columnist from 1986 to 1990.

Brummett briefly took on the role of editor for the Arkansas Times from 1990 to 1992, showcasing his versatility in the field. His 1994 book, "High Wire: From the Back Roads to the Beltway, the Education of Bill Clinton," published by Hyperion, further solidified his reputation as a credible voice on political matters. Following this, he became a columnist for the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette in the same year, marking the beginning of a long-standing association with one of the state’s leading news outlets.

In 2000, he signed a deal with Donrey Media Group, now known as Stephens Media, where he wrote for 11 years, continuing to shape the conversation around local and national issues. Eventually, Brummett rejoined the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette as a columnist on October 24, 2011, where his insights and analysis remain influential among readers.
