Maddox Webb Joins Mississippi State Baseball as Latest Transfer Commitment
Starkville, MS – In a significant move for Mississippi State Baseball, right-handed pitcher Maddox Webb has committed to the Bulldogs, marking the seventh transfer portal acquisition under Head Coach Brian O’Connor. Webb’s announcement came just prior to the opening pitch of the 2025 College World Series, as the Bulldogs aim to bolster their pitching roster for the upcoming seasons.
Webb, a sophomore transfer from The Citadel, has demonstrated considerable potential during his time with the Bulldogs. In the 2025 season, he pitched 55.2 innings, achieving a 4.04 ERA alongside 61 strikeouts and 34 walks. His debut season in 2024 saw him make 22 appearances with a 5.18 ERA in 24.1 innings, featuring 22 strikeouts.
This addition is particularly notable as Webb becomes the second pitcher to join Mississippi State from the transfer portal, following Tomas Valincius from Virginia. Webb is highly regarded, currently rated as the No. 105 player by 64 Analytics, pointing to his potential impact on the Bulldogs’ lineup.
The offseason has seen Mississippi State managing various transitions, including multiple outgoing transfers and welcoming key incoming players. Notable departures include pitchers Will Passeau and Eli Walker, alongside infielder Dylan Cupp. In contrast, the Bulldogs are gaining depth with newcomers such as Webb and several other transfers from prestigious programs.
As O’Connor strategizes for the future, the focus remains on building a robust roster capable of competing at the highest levels, ensuring that Mississippi State remains a formidable force in college baseball.
