Mississippi High School Football Championships Return to Davis Wade Stadium
Starkville, MS – In an exciting development for high school football in Mississippi, the Mississippi High School Activities Association (MHSAA) has announced that the Blue Cross Blue Shield of Mississippi Gridiron Classic will return to Davis Wade Stadium on the Mississippi State University campus in Starkville. The championship games are set to take place from December 4-6, 2025, marking the event’s first return to MSU since 2016.
Rickey Neaves, the executive director of the MHSAA, expressed gratitude to MSU and Starkville for their support, stating, “We have zero doubt that the experience for our schools, student-athletes, coaches, and fans will be second-to-none.” The Gridiron Classic will feature seven title games, with two games scheduled for both December 4 and 5, followed by three games on December 6.
The previous editions of the championship games saw various venues, including the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg and the University of Mississippi in Oxford. Davis Wade Stadium is expected to provide a vibrant atmosphere as fans rally behind their teams.
Defending champions heading into this season include Tupelo (7A), Grenada (6A), West Point (5A), Poplarville (4A), Choctaw County (3A), Heidelberg (2A), and Baldwyn (1A).
The schedule for the 2025 MHSAA Football Championships features:
- December 4: Class 1A at 4 p.m., Class 5A at 7:30 p.m.
- December 5: Class 4A at 4 p.m., Class 6A at 7:30 p.m.
- December 6: Class 3A at Noon, Class 2A at 3:30 p.m., Class 7A at 7 p.m.
