Florida State Football Welcomes Former Mississippi State Coach Zach Arnett to Staffing
Florida State University has made a significant addition to its football coaching staff with the hiring of former Mississippi State head coach Zach Arnett. The news was first reported by 247Sports. At just 38 years old, Arnett brings SEC experience to the Seminoles, although he recently stepped down from his defensive coordinator position at UNLV due to personal reasons.
With a diverse coaching background, Arnett has held roles including defensive analyst for Ole Miss and head coach and defensive coordinator at Mississippi State, where he experienced a challenging tenure that ended with his dismissal in his first season. His new position at FSU will see him serving in an analytical role under defensive coordinator Tony White and head coach Mike Norvell.
This coaching move aligns with FSU’s broader strategy to revamp its football program, especially after a disappointing 2-10 season. Coach Norvell has been busy restructuring the coaching staff, highlighted by the recent key hires of White and offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn, another seasoned former head coach, as part of an effort to restore the Seminoles to their former glory.
Looking ahead, the Seminoles’ 2025 football schedule includes notable matchups against teams like Alabama, North Carolina State, and Virginia Tech, as they aim to bounce back from last year’s struggles.
