Tragic Crash on Highway 6 Claims Life of Minor in Quitman County
QUIMAN COUNTY, MS — A tragic accident on Highway 6 claimed the life of a minor and left two others injured on Saturday, June 9, prompting an investigation by the Mississippi Highway Patrol (MHP).
The crash occurred around 2:30 p.m. when a 2019 Chevrolet Tahoe, driven by a 41-year-old, collided with a 2006 Ford Escape operated by a 64-year-old driver. The Tahoe was traveling south on Tutor Road while the Ford Escape was heading east on Highway 6.
In the aftermath of the collision, both drivers suffered moderate injuries and were transported to a local hospital for treatment. Unfortunately, a minor passenger in the Ford Escape, hailing from Marks, MS, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Mississippi Highway Patrol is actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident to determine the cause of the crash.
