Ole Miss Baseball Prepares for SEC Tournament Opener Against Florida
HOOVER, Ala. – Seventh-seeded Ole Miss baseball is set to face 10th-seeded Florida in the SEC Baseball Tournament on Wednesday, May 21. Originally scheduled for an afternoon slot, the game has been moved to a night matchup due to weather delays.
The Rebels concluded their regular season impressively, winning two of three against Auburn, with standout performances from Will Furniss and Judd Utermark, who collectively tallied a .517 batting average and contributed three home runs during the series. This season marks Ole Miss’s first winning SEC record since 2021, finishing 16-14 in conference play and securing a spot in the tournament after winning five series—surpassing their total from the previous two seasons combined.
With 30 wins to their credit, Ole Miss boasts one of the most potent offenses in Division I, including 102 home runs this year, just six shy of the program’s all-time record. Luke Hill is a key player, currently riding a 39-game on-base streak and ranking among the SEC leaders in several categories, including steals and runs scored.
Ole Miss will rely on starting pitcher Hunter Elliott, boasting an ERA of 3.31 and a solid performance record as he takes the mound against an undecided Florida pitcher. This season, the Rebels have also excelled in base running, racking up 68 stolen bases, the highest total since 2019.
As the Rebels embark on their tournament journey, they aim to leverage their improved play and offensive strength to make a deep run in the SEC Tournament. Fans can catch the action live on the SEC Network.
