Michael Vick Expresses Concern That Brett Favre Is ‘Untouchable’ in Mississippi Welfare Scandal: ‘The System Is Rigged’

Michael Vick Calls Out Brett Favre’s Double Standard in Legal Issues

Former NFL quarterback Michael Vick has weighed in on the ongoing legal issues facing Brett Favre, the retired All-Pro accused of misappropriating over $20 million in welfare funds. Speaking during Netflix’s documentary "UNTOLD: The Fall of Favre," Vick highlighted a perceived double standard in how some former athletes are treated when facing accusations of wrongdoing.

"People go to jail for stealing money every day," Vick stated, as reported by "People" magazine. His comments come as Favre, who has denied the allegations, faces scrutiny for allegedly using state welfare funds for personal projects, including building a volleyball stadium at Southern Miss, where he played college football. Favre’s daughter was also involved in athletics during this period.

Vick, now the head coach at Norfolk State after serving 21 months in prison for a dog-fighting operation, has shifted his focus to mentoring young athletes. He aims to steer them clear of mistakes he made during his playing career. "There were a lot of people watching, a lot of young men," Vick remarked, emphasizing the importance of setting a positive example.

Reflecting on his past, Vick acknowledges both the highs and lows of his career, stating, "My lawyer always told me, ‘You can do all the right things for 23 hours a day and screw up in the final hour, and the whole day is ruined.’" He is determined to impart wisdom to his players about the continuous journey of learning and growth.

As Vick continues his coaching journey, he hopes to inspire young athletes to avoid complacency and strive for excellence both on and off the field.
