OLE MISS WOMEN’S TENNIS SET FOR NCAA NATIONAL TOURNAMENT IN ANN ARBOR
OXFORD, Miss. – Ole Miss women’s tennis is gearing up for its 22nd appearance at the NCAA National Tournament, clashing with Arizona State in the first round of the regional competition this week in Ann Arbor, Michigan. This marks the Rebels’ first return to the national tournament since 2021.
Under the guidance of head coach Mark Beyers, who recently announced his retirement, the Rebels have achieved remarkable success with 14 NCAA tournament teams during his tenure. Since 1991, Ole Miss has made nine Sweet 16 appearances and celebrated four runs to the Elite Eight. Notably, the 2010 squad achieved a significant milestone by defeating Georgia Tech 4-0, marking their first Sweet 16 appearance since 1999.
From 2011 to 2018, Ole Miss consistently advanced in the tournament, with seven bids and six reaching the second round. Arianne Hartono’s singles title during the 2018 Individual Tournament remains a highlight of the program’s history.
After facing challenges during the pandemic, the Rebels aim to make a strong comeback, entering this season with a roster eager for NCAA Championship experience. The current lineup, boasting a record of 15-12, will compete for their first NCAA title, underscoring the team’s determination to elevate their performance.
