New Orleans Privateers Men’s Tennis Team Heading to NCAA Championships

NEW ORLEANS – The New Orleans Privateers men’s tennis team is making waves after an impressive performance in the Southland Championships. Following a thrilling tournament run, the team has secured a spot in the NCAA Championships and will be facing off against the Mississippi State Bulldogs.

The Privateers achieved a remarkable feat by defeating three of the top four seeds during the tournament, culminating in a decisive 4-1 victory over NJIT last Saturday. Southland Freshman of the Year, Julian Franzmann, delivered the pivotal clinching point, marking a historic moment as the team heads to the NCAA Championships for only the second time in its history.

The last time the Privateers appeared at the NCAA Championships was in 2022, where they faced Florida, featuring current ATP #13 ranked Ben Shelton. This year, they will encounter a formidable opponent in the 12th-ranked Mississippi State Bulldogs, who recently reached the SEC semifinals but fell short against South Carolina.

Fans can look forward to a full match preview, set to be released on Thursday, ahead of the highly anticipated match scheduled for Friday at 1 p.m. in Starkville, Mississippi.
