DoorDash Worker Arrested for Attempted Theft of Order Intended for Paralyzed Mississippi Deputy

MADISON COUNTY, Miss. – DoorDash Employee Arrested for Attempted Theft of Order from Paralyzed Retired Deputy

A DoorDash driver was arrested in Madison County after allegedly attempting to steal an order from retired Deputy Brad Sullivan, who was left paralyzed from injuries sustained in the line of duty. On Monday afternoon, Deputy Sullivan received a notification that his order from Academy Sports had been picked up by driver Terel Hampton, identified as "Dennis K" during the transaction.

Deputy Sullivan, who was shot twice in the head while pursuing a kidnapping suspect in 2019, had ordered items for his son. However, after contacting the store to confirm the order, he learned that it had been picked up but later marked as cancelled—a cancellation he did not initiate. When he reached out to Hampton, the driver denied having the order and refused to return it.

Thanks to cooperation from Academy Sports and subsequent investigation by the Madison Police Department, authorities determined that Hampton had exited the store with Sullivan’s merchandise, which included two pairs of shoes, two shirts, and a pair of shorts. Officers located and stopped Hampton’s vehicle shortly after, discovering both the stolen items and illegal substances, including a firearm and marijuana.

Hampton was arrested and charged with petit larceny, possession of marijuana while in possession of a firearm, and improper equipment. The stolen items were returned to Deputy Sullivan, who had served his community tirelessly even after sustaining life-altering injuries.

This incident highlights ongoing issues with food delivery services and the integrity of their respective workers, raising questions about safety and trust in such platforms.
