Brandon sophomore shortstop Tre McQueen made headlines last week with an outstanding performance against Oak Grove senior and Mississippi State signee Maddox Miller. Despite Miller being one of the best pitchers in Mississippi, McQueen went 4 for 4 against him, securing a 7-2 victory for Brandon and handing Miller his first loss of the season.
McQueen’s performance earned him the title of BSN Sports/Mississippi Scoreboard Metro Jackson Baseball Player of the Week. He showcased his skills with three singles and a double, becoming the first player all season to have more than one hit against Miller.
Coach Daniel Best praised McQueen for his dedication, high baseball IQ, and positive attitude on and off the field. McQueen’s stellar performance on the baseball field is complemented by his success in football, where he has received Division I offers from Arkansas State and Tennessee-Martin.
McQueen’s father, Ze McQueen, is an assistant baseball coach at Brandon and has a background in baseball, having played at East Central Community College and in the minor leagues. The McQueen family is deeply involved in sports, with Tre and his brothers Jay and Jadevion excelling in various athletic pursuits.
As Brandon continues its season, McQueen’s performance serves as a reminder of his exceptional skills and determination on the playing field. Despite facing tough competition, McQueen’s talent and work ethic have solidified his position as a standout player in Mississippi high school sports.
