The Federal Aviation Administration has grounded New York Helicopter Charter, the company responsible for the sightseeing tour that tragically crashed into the Hudson River last week, killing all six people on board. The FAA issued the emergency order in part due to the firing of the company’s director of operations. The Bell 206 helicopter crashed into the river at 3:17 p.m., resulting in the deaths of Siemens executive Agustín Escobar, his wife, their three children, and pilot Sean Johnson. Following the crash, New York Helicopter Charter voluntarily ceased operations, and the FAA is conducting a review of the company’s operations as part of the Certificate Holder Evaluation Program. The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
