Completion of the First Phase of the ‘Mississippi River to Rock River Trail’ in Moline

Moline city officials and local organizations celebrated the completion of Phase One of the “Mississippi River to Rock River Trail” with a ribbon cutting ceremony. The trail, which extends along 19th Street from the Mississippi River to Avenue of the Cities, is now open to the public. Once all phases are completed, the trail will connect the Rock River to the American Discovery Trail, which runs coast-to-coast across the United States. The project has been a long time in the making, according to the Quad Cities Bike Club. Phase Two of the project will extend the trail south to 36th Avenue, with the final phase bringing the trail all the way to the Rock River. The creation of the north-south connector is significant in a region where trails typically run east-west. The completion of the trail will provide residents and visitors with a unique opportunity to explore the natural beauty of the Quad Cities area.
