Man from Palm Coast arrested in Mississippi for allegedly killing his girlfriend’s cat

A man from Palm Coast, Florida, was arrested after being accused of injuring his girlfriend’s cat, resulting in the animal’s death. Atticus Robert, 34, was taken into custody in Mississippi after a warrant was issued for his arrest. Deputies from the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office responded to a domestic dispute on March 7th, where they discovered the deceased cat and a scratch on Robert’s face. Robert claimed the cat had scratched him and he may have accidentally stepped on its paw. The girlfriend found the injured cat in the laundry room and attempted to take it for medical help, but Robert allegedly blocked her from leaving.

Robert was arrested for false imprisonment and later released on bond. A necropsy revealed the cat died from collapsed lungs due to blunt force trauma. A warrant for aggravated animal cruelty was issued on April 3rd, leading to Robert’s arrest in Mississippi with the help of the Hernando Police Department.

Sheriff Rick Staly stated, “If you seriously hurt or kill an innocent animal that cannot defend itself, we will find you and put you in the Green Roof Inn where you belong.” Robert will be extradited back to Flagler County to face charges. Witnesses of animal cruelty are urged to contact 911. The sheriff’s office commended deputies and detectives for their work on the case and thanked the Hernando Police Department for their assistance in apprehending the suspect.
