The University of Arkansas has named Indrajeet Chaubey as the new provost and executive vice chancellor for Academic Affairs, effective July 1. Chaubey, a former UA faculty member, will succeed Terry Martin, who was appointed to the role in November 2022. Chancellor Charles Robinson expressed his confidence in Chaubey’s ability to lead the university, citing his extensive experience in higher education and his proven track record of advancing student success, research, and faculty excellence.
Chaubey, who most recently served as the dean of the College of Agriculture, Health and Natural Resources at the University of Connecticut, brings with him a wealth of experience in academic leadership and research. His work in hydrology and water quality has focused on watershed management strategies and their impact on water availability, quality, and ecosystem sustainability.
Chaubey expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to return to the University of Arkansas, citing the university’s strong foundation in academic excellence, research, and service. He looks forward to working with faculty, staff, students, and university leadership to further advance the university’s mission and propel it to greater heights.
Robinson also thanked the search committee and Dr. Terry Martin for his leadership as provost over the past 40 years. Martin will return to a full-time faculty position in the College of Engineering. The university is excited to welcome Chaubey back into the fold and looks forward to the contributions he will make in his new role.
