Delta flight narrowly avoids collision with Air Force jet near Reagan National

A Delta Air Lines flight departing from Reagan National Airport had a close call with a U.S. Air Force T-38 jet on Friday. The Airbus A319 was on a scheduled route to Minneapolis-St. Paul with 131 passengers and was forced to maneuver the aircraft to avoid a potential collision. The Traffic Collision Avoidance System was activated, and the flight crew followed procedures as trained. Fortunately, no injuries were reported. The flight arrived at its destination 10 minutes late due to the incident. Delta Airlines stated that safety is their top priority and will cooperate with regulators for any review of the flight. The Air Force did not immediately respond to requests for comments. This incident comes after a series of aircraft crashes and mishaps since the beginning of the year, including a collision over the Potomac River in Washington D.C. that resulted in multiple fatalities. NBC News producers Jay Blackman and Dennis Romero contributed to this report.
