LSU’s baseball game against Mississippi State on Friday night was delayed due to inclement weather in the Baton Rouge area. The game, which was supposed to start at 6:30 p.m. CT, was pushed to a later time in the evening. The Tigers were looking to clinch victory in Game 2 after a comeback win in Game 1 the previous night. LSU managed to turn around a 6-2 deficit with a five-run fifth inning to secure an 8-6 victory over Mississippi State.
LSU, now 24-3 overall and 5-2 in the SEC, saw right-hander Zac Cowan pitch impressively, earning his third save of the season. Head coach Jay Johnson praised the team’s resilience and highlighted the performance of Cowan on the mound. The new start time for the rescheduled game was set for 9:05 p.m. CT at Alex Box Stadium, Skip Bertman Field.
Looking ahead to the matchup, LSU is ranked No. 5 in Baseball America and No. 6 in USA Today, while Mississippi State is unranked. The pitching matchup for Friday’s game featured LSU’s Jr. RH Anthony Eyanson against MSU’s Sr. LH Pico Kohn. The game was scheduled to be streamed live on SEC Network+.
