Stepfather’s murder leads to arrest of suspect in Mississippi | Crime/Police

Ian Anthony Seghers, 34, of Baton Rouge, was arrested in Mississippi over the weekend in connection with the disappearance of his stepfather, Walter “Keith” Rowland. Seghers had been staying on Rowland’s property and had a strained relationship with him. Rowland was reported missing on March 9 after a welfare check at his property. Law enforcement later discovered Rowland’s van in Mississippi.

Seghers’ brother, Sean Crawford, tipped off law enforcement about his brother’s whereabouts after receiving concerning messages and recordings that led him to believe Seghers had killed their stepfather. With this information, authorities located Seghers and arrested him in Ocean Springs, Mississippi. He waived his right to an extradition hearing and is expected to be transferred to East Baton Rouge Parish jail.

Crawford has started a GoFundMe campaign to help in the search for their missing stepfather. The case is currently being investigated, and Seghers could potentially face charges of second-degree murder. The situation remains ongoing as law enforcement works to gather more information about the disappearance of Rowland.
