Musk’s political action committee dives headfirst into Florida’s special elections

A super PAC linked to billionaire Elon Musk, called America PAC, has begun spending money in two heavily Republican House seats in Florida ahead of special elections next week. The PAC, which was mainly funded by Musk in 2024, is spending $20,000 on texting services to support Florida Chief Financial Officer Jimmy Patronis in the 1st Congressional District and state Sen. Randy Fine in the 6th District. Musk’s increased political engagement as a key White House adviser may be reflected in this spending. The special elections in Florida are being held in areas where President Trump won by large margins in 2020, but House Republican leaders are concerned about the race in the 6th District to replace former Rep. Mike Waltz. Fine, the Republican candidate, is facing a well-funded Democratic opponent, Josh Weil. In the 1st District, Patronis is also being outspent by his Democratic rival, Gay Valimont. The winner of each race will replace former GOP representatives, and both candidates have been endorsed by Trump. The spending by America PAC in these races is relatively small compared to other expenditures, but it indicates Musk’s potential interest in the outcomes of these contests.
