Production Commences in Bay City with Röhm’s LiMA Technology

Röhm, a global leader in methacrylate technology, has announced the successful start of production at its new Bay City, Texas, plant. This facility is the first to implement Röhm’s innovative LiMA technology, which offers sustainable benefits such as higher product yield, lower energy consumption, and reduced water usage. Once fully operational, the plant will produce 2,50,000 metric tons of MMA annually, meeting the growing demand for MMA in the U.S. and beyond.

At the launch event, Röhm CEO Dr. Hans Bohnen highlighted the importance of partners and suppliers in bringing this advanced technology to the market. Advent International, an investor in Röhm, also emphasized the strategic importance of the investment in expanding sustainable MMA production in the U.S.

Customers have already shown strong interest in MMA produced through Röhm’s C2 process, positioning the Bay City plant to serve both domestic and global markets. With state-of-the-art LiMA technology, Röhm aims to set a new industry standard for sustainable and efficient MMA production.

“We have invested at the right time in the right place and look forward to further strengthening Röhm’s position as the global leader in methacrylate technology,” stated Ron Ayles, Managing Partner at Advent International. With strong market demand and future growth prospects, Röhm is well-positioned to meet the needs of customers while advancing sustainable production practices in the industry.
