Emergency Management Director’s Home Damaged by Tornado 2 Years After Deadly Twister Outbreak in Mississippi Town

On March 24, 2023, Rolling Fork, Mississippi, was devastated by an EF-4 tornado, resulting in over a dozen fatalities. Two years later, on March 22, 2025, the town faced another twister, damaging the home of Sharkey County Emergency Management Director Frank Eason. Despite the destruction, Eason’s wife, who was inside the house, remained unharmed. The National Weather Service is assessing the damage caused by the tornado.

The 2023 tornado had also caused severe damage in Rolling Fork and nearby Silver City, leading to the destruction of hundreds of homes and businesses. The total death toll in Mississippi and Alabama from the twisters reached nearly two dozen, with reports of 20 tornadoes in the two states on that fateful day.

The recent twister hitting Rolling Fork comes almost two years to the day after the devastating EF-4 tornado in 2023, which had wind speeds of up to 195 mph, making it the strongest tornado in Mississippi since 2011. The commemorative event, marking the second anniversary of the previous tornado, was taking place when the new twister struck, illustrating the ongoing vulnerability of the area to severe weather events.

Despite the challenges faced by the community, the resilience and strength of the residents in Rolling Fork remain evident as they continue to rebuild and recover from the repeated natural disasters that have struck the town.
