Wisconsin-based doggie care service K9 Konvoy, founded by Hope Mehlberg, has become a popular and unique way of providing exercise and socialization for dogs in the area. What started as a stress reliever for Mehlberg and her own dogs has now turned into a full-time business that requires a school bus to transport the 22-26 dogs she cares for each day.
After starting with just her own two dogs and gradually adding more dogs to her daily walks, Mehlberg eventually quit her day job in May 2023 to focus on her pet-walking service full-time. She purchased a Ford utility van to transport the dogs and eventually upgraded to a school bus as her customer base expanded.
Mehlberg’s day begins at 8 a.m. as she loads the dogs onto the bus and picks up more from their homes before heading to a three-acre park owned by her family. The dogs play, socialize, and enjoy various activities at the park before being cleaned up and taken back home at the end of the day.
Despite the hard work involved in running the business solo, Mehlberg finds joy in spending her days with dogs and considers it the best job she’s ever had. K9 Konvoy provides a valuable service to pet owners who may not have a close doggie daycare option and ensures that the dogs in Mehlberg’s care have a fun and fulfilling day of exercise and interaction.
