STEM Fest returned to Gainbridge Fieldhouse for its sixth year, providing students from kindergarten through 12th grade with a fun and educational experience. Organized by the Indiana Pacers and Eli Lilly, the event featured nearly 40 companies, colleges, and non-profits in the STEM field. The goal of STEM Fest is to inspire and educate youth to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
Attendees had the opportunity to participate in science experiments, interact with robotics, explore an actual plane, and even try out virtual reality headsets. The event also showcased how the Pacers incorporate STEM in their operations both on and off the court, demonstrating the relevance of STEM in various industries.
Rosalind Young-Goree, a lead technician at Eli Lilly, emphasized the importance of STEM education for students and the community. She noted that STEM Fest provides a wonderful introduction to science and technology for kids, encouraging them to explore future opportunities in these fields.
In addition to engaging activities like Math Hoops, where kids learned math skills through basketball, attendees also received tickets to an upcoming Pacers game. The event aimed to reach a wide audience across the Indianapolis region, inspiring youth to pursue STEM-related opportunities in the future. STEM Fest serves as a platform for students to have fun while gaining exposure to the exciting world of science and technology.
