Applications Now Open for Arkansas Rice Scholarship Program

Arkansas Rice’s “Rice Reps” program is offering high school juniors the opportunity to win up to $17,500 in scholarship funding towards higher education. The program is a five-month initiative aimed at educating students about the rice industry and empowering them to advocate for it in their communities and on social media.

Participants in the program will engage in activities from May to September to learn about rice farming and the importance of the Arkansas rice industry. They will also attend four exclusive on-site experiences to gain a better understanding of the industry’s impact in Arkansas. The goal of the program is to generate interest in rice promotion and highlight the significance of the Arkansas rice industry to the state’s economy.

Students in the graduating class of 2026 can apply for the program and, upon completion, submit a scholarship application showcasing their advocacy activities. Scholarship winners will be recognized at a final reception in October.

Arkansas is a key player in the rice industry, producing nearly 9 billion pounds of rice annually and contributing over $6 billion to the state’s economy. The state’s rice farmers and millers play a crucial role in providing employment opportunities for over 25,000 Arkansans.
