JTDMH Implements Advanced Technology to Elevate Caregiver Safety, Enhance Patient Outcomes, and Increase Nursing Retention

Joint Township District Memorial Hospital (JTDMH) in Ohio has taken a significant step to enhance patient care and caregiver safety by standardizing The Hercules Patient Repositioner across all inpatient care areas. This pioneering move makes JTDMH one of the first hospitals in the state to fully integrate this innovative technology, which automates patient boosting, a physically demanding task in bedside care.

Manual patient boosting is a leading cause of nurse fatigue, injury, and burnout, contributing to workforce shortages. By implementing The Hercules Patient Repositioner, JTDMH aims to reduce nurse fatigue, extend nurses’ careers, and improve retention rates. A recent pilot program in the hospital’s acute care unit showed promising results, with staff reporting positive impacts on their well-being.

The Chief Nursing Officer at JTDMH, Lana Hinders, highlighted the organization’s commitment to team member safety and creating a positive work environment. The hospital is also the first in Ohio to fully implement this technology in an obstetrical area, benefiting patients in labor and delivery and post-cesarean care.

In addition to caregiver benefits, Hercules enhances clinical outcomes by reducing the risk of Hospital-Acquired Pressure Injuries (HAPIs) and improving patient comfort. By saving valuable nursing time and allowing staff to focus on higher priority patient care, this technology is redefining excellence in hospital care.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony on February 26th celebrated this milestone, showcasing the hospital’s dedication to nurse safety, patient comfort, and innovation in maternity care. With this groundbreaking initiative, JTDMH is setting a new standard for patient care and caregiver safety in the region.
