Softball team defeated by No. 17 Mississippi State, but bounces back to win against ETSU with a score of 12-8


Louisiana Tech softball had a strong showing in their doubleheader on Saturday, bouncing back from a loss to Mississippi State with a 12-8 victory over ETSU. The Bulldogs now stand at 7-6 on the season and 2-1 in the Rocket City Showcase. In the first game, Mississippi State dominated with a 10-1 win, but LA Tech responded in the second game with a season-high 12 runs, led by key performances from Elena Heng, Claire Raley, and Nicole Hammoude. Heng collected four hits throughout the day, including three against ETSU.

Notable moments included Alyssa Martin making her third start of the season, Karolyn Glover hitting her first career home run, and Laney Johnson’s second start of the year. Allie Floyd also secured her second relief appearance win. The Bulldogs are now 1-0 against ETSU.

Looking ahead, Louisiana Tech will face Ole Miss in their final game of the Rocket City Showcase. The matchup is set for Sunday at 12:30 p.m. The team will aim to carry their momentum from the ETSU win into this upcoming game as they continue to strive for success in the season.
