Lieutenant Governor of Mississippi loses consciousness during live speech

Mississippi Republican Lt. Gov. Delbert Hosemann collapsed while presiding over the state Senate on Wednesday, leading to a chaotic scene as aides rushed to his aid. A video of the incident circulated online, showing Hosemann bowing his head before falling over into the microphone. Thankfully, he was conscious and responsive as medical staff tended to him.

In a statement following the incident, Hosemann reassured everyone that he was feeling fine and attributed the fall to dehydration. He expressed gratitude for the medical professionals who assisted him and emphasized the importance of staying hydrated.

Despite the scare, Democratic state Sen. John Horhn reported that Hosemann walked to his office shortly after the fall and was seen leaving the state Capitol less than an hour later. Gov. Tate Reeves and other Mississippi legislators extended their thoughts and prayers to the lieutenant governor for a speedy recovery.

Hosemann, who has been in office since 2020 and previously served as the secretary of state, is known for his dedication to public service. The incident highlighted the importance of taking care of one’s health, even in high-pressure situations, and serves as a reminder to prioritize hydration.
