Three captives arrive in Israel

Three hostages, Sagui Dekel-Chen, Sasha Alexander Troufanov, and Iair Horn, were released by Hamas and transferred to Israeli custody inside the Gaza Strip. They will undergo an initial medical assessment in Israeli territory. Crowds in Tel Aviv cheered and waved flags as the hostages were released and transferred to Red Cross vehicles. The three hostages were in better shape than previously released captives as they emerged on stage with fighters. The Red Cross arrived on stage to sign documents alongside a fighter. An armed convoy arrived at the release location, and scores of Palestinian fighters gathered for the expected hostage exchange. The release was part of a larger deal that included the release of 369 Palestinian prisoners held by Israel. A Hamas official confirmed the release of the three hostages according to the terms of the ceasefire agreement with Israel. The hostages included an American Israeli who refurbished buses into mobile tech classrooms for underserved children. The release marks the sixth exchange under the ceasefire agreement. President Donald Trump’s comments on Palestinians prompted backlash from leaders in Jordan, Saudi Arabia, and other countries concerned about Palestinian rights and resettlement plans.
