I replicated extravagant celebrity red carpet outfits using everyday items on a size 16 figure – if Ariana Grande can, why not me?

Mother-of-two, Danielle Broadbent from West Yorkshire, decided to take a stand against the lack of plus-size representation in the fashion industry by recreating outlandish red-carpet looks worn by celebrities for a DIY project. Tired of seeing skinny celebrities in ridiculous outfits, Danielle used everyday items from around her house and Amazon to replicate iconic looks from events like the Met Gala and Paris Fashion Week.

With the support of her partner and friends, Danielle created a calendar featuring her recreations of A-lister outfits, aiming to show that fashion and glamour are not limited to one size. Despite struggling with body confidence due to a thyroid condition and pregnancy, Danielle found empowerment in dressing up as celebrities like Beyoncé and Kim Kardashian, feeling unreal and confident in her own skin.

Through her project, Danielle hopes to inspire body positivity and self-love, believing that confidence is the sexiest thing anyone can wear. The proceeds from her calendar will be donated to MIND, a mental health charity in England and Wales.

Overall, Danielle’s project is a celebration of embracing one’s body, challenging societal beauty standards, and promoting self-acceptance, energy, and kindness. With empowerment and support from her partner and friends, Danielle’s journey demonstrates the importance of shifting the conversation towards body positivity and mental well-being.
