Diverse student organizations at the University of Mississippi, including the Black Student Union, the National Association of Black Journalists, and the NAACP, are coming together to celebrate Black History Month. The BSU will host events such as the annual gala and game night, while the NABJ will release a podcast series and newsletter. The UM NAACP will hold NAACP Week, featuring the popular “Buy the Block” event. Additionally, the university will host a Black History Month concert featuring guest artist Angela Brown. These events aim to provide a platform for Black students to share their experiences, celebrate their heritage, and honor Black history. The concert, showcasing talented musicians and performers, is free to attend and will take place on Feb. 25 at the Ford Center. These organizations continue to work towards providing a safe and empowering space for Black students on campus, as well as highlighting the achievements and contributions of the Black community.
