Pro-Russia Ukrainian paramilitary leader killed in bomb attack in Moscow

A bomb exploded in the lobby of a luxury apartment building in Moscow, killing at least one person and injuring four others. The target of the attack was identified as Armen Sarkisyan, a pro-Russian paramilitary leader from eastern Ukraine who was critical injured and later died in hospital. The blast was described as an assassination attempt by law enforcement services, with Sarkisyan accused by Ukraine of aiding Russia’s war efforts in Donetsk. The attack was described as carefully planned and ordered, with investigators working to identify those responsible. Video footage showed significant damage to the lobby of the building, but reports of Sarkisyan’s condition varied. In December, Ukraine’s SBU security service labeled Sarkisyan as a “crime boss” in the Donetsk region, involved in illegal armed groups and organizing supplies for frontline units. This incident comes after Ukraine claimed responsibility for the killing of a Russian General in a previous bomb blast in Moscow. There was no immediate comment from Ukraine regarding the recent bombing. The incident highlights the ongoing tensions and violence in the region stemming from the conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
