Harrison County officials have met to create an action plan in preparation for a winter storm expected to bring snow to South Mississippi on Tuesday. Led by Emergency Management Agency Director Matt Stratton, the plan includes activating an emergency operations center at 2 a.m. Tuesday, with county road crews salting bridges and major intersections.
County crews will work alongside MDOT crews to maintain road safety by pre-treating bridges on Monday and rock salting on Tuesday. Officials are urging the public to stay off the roads to allow for efficient work and reduce distractions.
District One Supervisor Dan Cuevas emphasized the importance of staying home during the storm, highlighting the county’s dedication to keeping residents safe. Harrison County public offices will be closed on Tuesday and open at noon on Wednesday, with schools closed on both Tuesday and Wednesday.
