The competition, facilitated by the Advanced Propulsion Centre UK (APC) and Innovate UK, is open to UK-registered businesses of any size that meet certain criteria, including working in consortium with at least one SME company and demonstrating a clear route to market.

Projects eligible for funding should focus on areas such as energy storage, batteries, electric machines, and power electronics. They should also aim to reduce CO2 levels, create and safeguard UK jobs, and utilize digital tools and techniques. Applicants can claim up to 50% of their eligible project costs in government match funding, ranging from £2.5m to £20m. Key competition dates include the competition opening on January 14, 2025, an Applicant Q&A event on January 15, and the application deadline on March 14, 2025. Further details are available on the APC website, and interested applicants are encouraged to contact the APC’s Business Development Team for guidance on submitting a strong application.
