Ole Miss Defense Dominates No. 4 Alabama in SEC Showdown

Ole Miss pulled off a stunning 74-64 upset over No. 4 Alabama in a standout night for the SEC. Malik Dia led the way with 23 points and 19 rebounds for the Rebels, who became the only undefeated team in SEC play along with Auburn. The win marked Mississippi’s first road victory over a top-5 team in school history.

In other SEC action, No. 1 Auburn easily defeated No. 21 Mississippi State, No. 8 Kentucky held off No. 11 Texas A&M, and unranked Missouri upset No. 5 Florida. However, it was Ole Miss’ stifling defense that stood out on Tuesday night, holding Alabama well below their season scoring average and forcing 21 turnovers.

Alabama struggled to get their offense going, with Mark Sears as their lone starter in double figures with 11 points. Aden Holloway added 15 points off the bench, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the Rebels’ dominant defense. Ole Miss outshot Alabama and controlled the game, limiting the Crimson Tide to just 28 points in the second half.

The upset victory solidified Ole Miss as a threat in the SEC, which features multiple top-10 teams and a total of nine ranked in the top 25. The win showcased the Rebels’ ability to compete with the best teams in the conference and served as a statement for the rest of the season.
