The men’s golf program at the University of Mississippi is off to a strong start this season, currently holding the No. 1 ranking. Led by senior Kye Meeks, a native of Mississippi, the team is a mix of veteran leadership and young talent. Meeks, who has been with the program since 2020, is guiding freshmen Jacob Blanton and Davis Gochenouer, both of whom bring impressive records to the team.
Blanton, a Mississippi native who excelled at Oak Hill Academy, has shown promise with his strong scoring averages in high school. Gochenouer, from Ohio, has also made a solid debut in collegiate golf, with multiple top-25 finishes in amateur events. He contributed to the team’s victory at the Hamptons Intercollegiate and has already shown his skills on the course.
Meeks had a successful fall season, with standout performances at the Fallen Oak Collegiate Invitational and the Visit Knoxville Collegiate. He finished inside the top-15 in multiple events and has consistently shot rounds in the 60s. The team is scheduled to return to competition in February at the Thomas Sharkey Individual and the Puerto Rico Classic.
