Southern Miss has recently announced a new partnership with Mississippi College School of Law that will allow students to complete their undergraduate and law degrees in just six years, instead of the traditional seven. This initiative will enable students majoring in political science, legal studies, and criminal justice to attend USM for three years and then be admitted early into law school. The first year of law school will become their senior year, allowing them to graduate from law school a year early.
This partnership aims to help students save on tuition and living costs while giving them an extra year in the workforce to start earning a living sooner. USM President Dr. Joe Paul believes this program is beneficial for students who are serious about pursuing a career in law. Mississippi College President Blake Thompson emphasized that both institutions are dedicated to serving the state of Mississippi by producing the next generation of attorneys.
To be eligible for the accelerated degree program, students must pass the LSAT by December of their third year at Southern Miss. This collaboration between the two institutions aims to streamline the path to a legal career for motivated students. For more news and updates, viewers can subscribe to the WDAM 7 newsletter.
