Mississippi State soccer player Rylie Combs has signed a professional contract with Eskilstuna United in Sweden’s second division, Elitettan. Combs, who was named the 2024 SEC Defender of the Year, had an impressive collegiate career with honors such as United Soccer Coaches Third Team All-American and First Team All-SEC.

Bulldog head coach Nick Zimmerman praised Combs’ development during her time at Mississippi State, stating that she was a key player in the team’s success. Combs was part of a strong defensive unit in 2024, helping the team achieve impressive defensive stats such as just 10 goals allowed and 16 shutouts during the season.

In her 77 career matches for Mississippi State, Combs played a total of 5,975 minutes, scoring three goals and providing two assists. She was known for her tough and defensively strong style of play, qualities that caught the attention of Eskilstuna United manager Rickard Johansson.

Combs is the second member of Mississippi State’s 2024 SEC Championship team to sign a professional contract, following in the footsteps of Macey Hodge who signed with Angel City FC in the NWSL. This achievement highlights the success and talent of the Mississippi State soccer program.
