Witness recounts dramatic escape from Eaton Fire

A fire in Altadena, California has led to the evacuation of residents, including Connor Benavides, who described the chaotic scene as he fled the area. The fast-moving wildfire has burned more than 200 acres, prompting warnings from officials for residents to leave as quickly as possible. The fire has also resulted in injuries to multiple civilians and an LAFD firefighter. Thick smoke from the wildfire has also caused a nursing home in Pasadena to be evacuated. The fire has damaged multiple structures and burned over 1,200 acres, spreading rapidly due to strong winds. Residents in the area have described the flames as a “tornado of fire” and have been urged to heed evacuation warnings to ensure their safety. Amid the poor air quality caused by the wildfire, doctors are encouraging the use of masks to protect against the smoke. The Palisades Fire in Los Angeles has also threatened homes, burned cars, and led to the evacuation of local celebrities and students in Malibu. As firefighters battle wildfires on both coasts, over 20,000 residents have been impacted and evacuation orders have been issued. Governor Newsom has urged residents to take evacuation warnings seriously in order to stay safe from the growing fires.
