SMU secures commitment from Mississippi State transfer DL Eric Taylor

Former Mississippi State defensive lineman Eric Taylor has recently signed with SMU, giving him three more seasons of eligibility after sitting out the 2024 season. Taylor, a former four-star recruit, had a successful stint at Southwest Community College in 2022 with 28 tackles, 8.0 TFL, and 3.0 sacks.

Although Taylor was expected to compete for a starting spot in the 2024 season for Mississippi State, he did not play in the first two games and has now made the move to SMU. Despite his limited playing time, he was recognized as a member of the 2023-24 First Year SEC Academic Honor Roll.

Ranked as the No. 273 overall prospect in the country and No. 34 defensive lineman in the 2020 class by the On3 Industry Ranking, Taylor brings a wealth of talent and potential to the SMU football team. His signing adds depth and strength to the defensive line for the upcoming seasons.
