Mississippi State overcame an early deficit to secure a 45-20 homecoming victory against UMass, marking their first win in seven games. Freshman quarterback Michael Van Buren, Jr., led the Bulldog offense with three touchdowns, while Johnnie Daniels, Davon Booth, and Xavier Gayten contributed on the ground. The defense held UMass to 335 yards, with standouts including linebackers Stone Blanton and Nic Mitchell and safety Brylan Lanier. Kyle Ferris was perfect on extra points and added a field goal. Though UMass controlled time of possession, they struggled with penalties. Mississippi State aims to secure their first SEC win of the season against No. 7 Tennessee.
