The Detroit Lions secured the NFC North title and the conference’s top seed by defeating the Minnesota Vikings 31-9 in the final game of the NFL’s regular season. Running back Jahmyr Gibbs had a standout performance, contributing 139 rushing yards and three touchdowns along with 31 receiving yards and another score. Lions quarterback Jared Goff also had a solid game, completing 27 of 33 passes for 231 yards and a touchdown. The Vikings struggled offensively, particularly in the red zone, only scoring six points in four trips inside the 20-yard line. The Lions dominated the second half, scoring on three consecutive possessions while the Vikings only managed one field goal. The Lions finished the regular season with a 15-2 record, while the Vikings, despite improving by seven wins from the previous season, will have to open the postseason on the road. Other notable performances included the Tampa Bay Buccaneers winning the AFC South and the Denver Broncos clinching a playoff spot. Aaron Rodgers of the New York Jets threw four touchdowns in what could potentially be his final game, becoming the fifth player in NFL history with over 500 regular season touchdown passes. The Lions and the Kansas City Chiefs earned first-round byes as the No. 1 seeds in the NFC and AFC, respectively.
