John B. Briscoe of Oxford was tragically killed in a car accident on January 5th, 2025, in Lafayette County. The accident occurred just before 8 a.m. when the Chevrolet Silverado he was driving collided with a semi traveling west on Highway 6. Briscoe died at the scene of the crash. The Mississippi Highway Patrol is still investigating the incident, but they have not yet determined the cause of the collision or the condition of the semi driver. Both vehicles were traveling in the same direction at the time of the accident. This marks a tragic start to the new year for the community of Oxford and highlights the importance of safe driving practices. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and loved ones of John B.
