New Melania Trump documentary set to premiere on Amazon Prime Video later this year

Amazon Prime Video has licensed an upcoming documentary about incoming first lady Melania Trump, set to be released later this year. The documentary, which began filming last month, lists Melania Trump and Fernando Sulichin as executive producers, with Brett Ratner directing. Amazon spokesperson expressed excitement about sharing this story with their millions of customers. This announcement comes in the wake of President-elect Donald Trump’s victory and is just before the couple’s return to the White House for a second term.

There has been scrutiny over the relationship between Amazon founder Jeff Bezos’ businesses and Trump, as Bezos still serves as Amazon’s executive chairman and owns The Washington Post and Blue Origin. During Trump’s first term, there were clashes between him and Bezos, including an allegation from Amazon that Trump influenced a decision on a cloud services contract.

Recently, a cartoonist at The Washington Post shared that she quit after being blocked from publishing a satirical cartoon featuring tech CEOs, including Bezos, kneeling before the president-elect. The Post has also faced criticism for announcing it would no longer endorse presidential candidates, with Bezos explaining that endorsements do not impact elections but create a perception of bias.

Bezos did not comment on whether he was involved in securing the licensing for the Melania Trump documentary. The documentary’s release is awaited eagerly by audiences worldwide.
