MBK suffers defeat at Kentucky, looks ahead to SEC opener

Mississippi State Bulldogs athletics are in full swing with conference play kicking off for basketball and ongoing activity in the transfer portal for football. The women’s basketball team fell to #16 Kentucky in their SEC opener, shooting just 35.6% in a 91-69 loss. Meanwhile, the men’s basketball team, ranked #17, will face South Carolina to begin SEC play on Saturday.

On the football front, former Bulldogs Chris Jones and Logan Cooke have been selected to play in the 2025 Pro Bowl Games. Jones, a defensive lineman for the Kansas City Chiefs, will make his sixth-straight appearance while Cooke, a punter for the Jacksonville Jaguars, will debut in the game which will be held in Orlando at the end of January.

Mississippi State football has been active in the transfer portal, adding 18 players so far and looking to continue bolstering their roster. With the dead period for recruiting ending on January 6, the team will be hosting more players on campus to fill out their 2025 roster. Areas of focus include adding wide receivers, a cornerback, and additional talent in the trenches.

Fans and followers of the Bulldogs can expect exciting matchups in both basketball and football as conference play heats up and the football team continues to fine-tune its roster through the transfer portal.
