The person who rented the Tesla Cybertruck that exploded outside the Trump hotel in Las Vegas has been identified as an active-duty member of the U.S. Army’s special forces. Matthew Alan Livelsberger, who was on leave at the time, rented the vehicle. It is unclear if he was the person killed in the explosion or responsible for it. Federal law enforcement agents are investigating a residence in Colorado Springs connected to the case.
The incident is being treated as a possible terrorist attack, but no motive has been established. The explosion occurred shortly after an incident in New Orleans where a driver with ties to ISIS killed and injured several people. The rental company for both vehicles, Turo, is cooperating with investigators to determine if there is a connection between the two events.
Authorities have not found a definitive link between the attacks in New Orleans and Las Vegas. The FBI has stated that the Las Vegas incident seems to be isolated, and there is no immediate connection to terrorist organizations. Turo claims that neither of the renters involved in the attacks had criminal backgrounds that would have flagged them as security threats.
The explosion in Las Vegas injured seven bystanders, but their injuries were considered minor. The investigation into the incident is ongoing, and authorities are working to determine the motive behind the explosion.
